Ring Cam at Jack Lewis

Your phone already contains a diverse hodgepodge of food photos, workout selfies, and silly boomerangs. Point being, you capture random, everyday memories….so why not capture the most important memory: your engagement.

What is Ring Cam?

At Jack Lewis, we have Ring Cam. It looks just like a regular engagement ring box, except there’s a little camera and microphone in the lid that captures all the audio and video of your biggest moment. All you have to do is remember to turn it on, and then when the moment comes, just take a knee and open the box like you normally would (as long as you’re not pointing it directly up at the ceiling, the wide angle lens will capture her reaction perfectly). Then the speech, the proposal, the reaction, the celebration...you’ll have all of it forever.

Why Ring Cam?

  1. It’s free with your engagement ring purchase.

  2. The happiest moment of your lives will be preserved forever.

  3. You get a custom-edited video free of charge. We only have a few Ring Cam boxes in-house, so you don’t get to keep the Ring Cam box forever; you just get to borrow it for the proposal. In the days following your proposal, you’ll bring the box back in, and exchange it for a regular Jack Lewis ring box (which you will get to keep). But when you return your Ring Cam, we’ll copy the video footage onto our computers and send it over to our in-house media team. They’ll edit the best parts together and create a special custom video for you at no extra charge. Timelines vary, but we always get your video done before your wedding, and many couples end up showing these videos at their reception!

Here’s What It Looks Like

We take the raw footage, some photos, set it to music, and create a custom video that’s yours to keep forever. Here are some of our past favorites (shared with permission, of course):

Skeptical & Hesitant?
Consider This…

When we tell couples about ring cam, those who politely refuse usually give one of three reasons:

  1. This is an intimate, private moment. It just seems intrusive and wrong to be secretly filming it.

  2. I don’t want to be so worried about filming correctly that I’m not fully present for the moment.

  3. We’re awkward, she’s shy, I’ll probably mess it up, and we’re just not video people.

Fair concerns. We get it. Especially #3. Ring Cam may not be the right fit for your personalities, and we certainly won’t push it. We’ll bring it up, but if you’re not comfortable for whatever reason, we won’t keep trying to talk you into it. It’s a free service, and no one around here makes any extra money if you say yes.

But consider this... Regarding #2, our team will walk you step-by-step through how to use the box. We don’t just give it to you and send you on your way. We know the point of this is to capture the happiest moment of your life, so we’ll show you exactly where the camera is and give you tips on how to hold the box so you’re not filming the ceiling or the clouds. And then we’ll do practice runs, showing you the footage so you can see for yourself what the wide-angle camera actually captures based on how you’re holding it. In short, we do everything we can upfront to get you comfortable using the camera so that when the moment comes, you’re only focused on asking the love of your life to marry you.

And regarding #1, not that it’s a perfect comparison, but in our experience talking with married couples, they usually seem to remember their engagement day more fondly than their wedding day. Maybe that’s because the proposal is you at your most authentic, your most naturally happy. Before the venue bookings, family drama, and ever-expanding guest list of a wedding, this moment reflects the real you, when you’re not putting on a show or worried about how you look. It’s just the two of you in your environment, on your terms, at the highest point of your relationship thus far. It can’t be wrong to capture that, can it?

And you’ll be married forever, so trust us...however awkward it might seem to be ‘secretly filming’ it now, 30 years down the road this is something you’ll be glad you captured and preserved. It’s likely to be one of the greatest experiences of your life, and when you grow old together, you’ll always be able to travel back in time and smile as you re-live that magical moment.
